Itinerary Detail

Thanh Ha pottery village - Kim Bong carpentry village (L)

Morning walk through the narrow street of the ancient town then head to the wharf for a 4 hour boat trip on Thu Bon River - the poetic waterway that shapes the verdant countryside of Hoian and its rich heritage. Stop enroute to visit two handicraft villages nestled on the river banks.

Thanh Ha pottery village is merely 3km from Hoian. Here, you can see local pound and knead the clay into pots, jars and other pottery items. If you are lucky to come in firing day, you can watch the huge old kiln filled with fired woods. Buy some flower vases for souvenirs should you wish, then travel to Kim Bong carpentry village. This village has big reputation for talented carpenters who joined the construction of Hue Imperial City during Nguyen dynasty. Many of them were awarded the nine and eight ranks of mandarin positions, chief wooden statue positions, etc. Watch them creating beautiful wooden furniture and art works; talk to the friendly and welcoming locals. Board on boat to return the port, then have lunch at the local restaurant. Drop off at hotel. End of services!
